Confirmation at First Lutheran Church 2024-2025
At First Lutheran Church we invite youth entering 7th grade to begin our Confirmation ministry as they prepare for Affirmation of Baptism in the fall of their 10th grade year. Because infant baptism is a part of our Lutheran tradition, Confirmation gives individuals the opportunity to formally, knowingly and publicly affirm the faith into which they were baptized. Preparation for this faith milestone includes three years of intentional study, service, and fellowship. The knowledge and experience gained through confirmation is the foundation for the learning and growth that will be part of the on-going journey of Christian discipleship and life in a community of faith.
Confirmation students are expected to participate in Wednesday evening worship at 5:45, followed by weekly class sessions until 7:00 pm. (An optional supper is served each Wednesday starting at 5:00.) During the season of Lent, our youth will meet with faith mentors rather than gathering as a class. Information about worship notes, service credits, worship credits, and more will be made available at our Confirmation Orientation Meeting on Wednesday, September 4th at 6:00pm in the Parish Hall. Please plan to join us!

Students needing to catch up on worship notes (5 are needed) who absolutely cannot attend a worship service in person at First Lutheran or another congregation, may fill out this online form as they participate in worship via livestream or an archived service.
10th Grade Confirmands
All 10th graders planning to affirm their baptism this fall need to attend two class meetings in preparation. We’ll gather on Wednesdays–September 18th and 25th–at 7:00pm in the Parish Hall. The purpose of these meetings is to refresh some learning, make individual plans to complete any missing notes or credits, and discuss what congregational life in the church looks like after Confirmation.
Confirmation Sunday 2024 is October 27, which is also Reformation Day! A special worship service with Affirmation of Baptism (a.k.a. Confirmation) will be held at 9:30am.
Each student will prepare an expression of faith and schedule a one-on-one interview with a pastor. More information will be distributed at our September meetings.
Please plan to attend the rehearsal and banquet on Sunday, October 13th. Immediate family are also invited to share in the celebratory meal that evening! Details to follow. We will also be taking portraits of the class and individual confirmands that day, so it is important that everyone be included.
